Tom is also a White Rose DTC PhD student. His project concerns sensors for specific DNA structures. He is co-supervised by Dr Sham Haq and Prof Mike Williamson

Tom Wilson

Ina is from Malaysia and her PhD studentship is sponsored by her government. She is researching the self-assembly of photo-sensors based on metallomacrocyles

Ina Ahmad

Martin did his first degree at Bristol. He is now carrying out research on a joint project with Dr Beppe Battaglia on luminescent imaging of living cells

Like Hanan and Ahmed, Adel is also studying in the Thomas group through a Libyan Government Scholarship. He is looking at tuning the luminescent output of metal complex-based “DNA light switch” molecules.

Adel Mlitan

Hanan is carrying out research on photoactive organic and mixed organic/metal complex molecules that interact with DNA. Her PhD studentship is also funded by a Libyan Government Scholarship.

Hanan Derrat

After doing his M.Chem. in Sheffield, Mike is now synthesizing hybrid metallo-intercalator/nano-particle systems for possible medical applications.

Ahmed is on a PhD Scholarship sponsored by the Libyan government. He is investigating  the use of electroactive, “kinetically locked” metallomacrocyles as sensors and devices.

Ahmed Zubi

Reddy is  a Marie Curie Incoming International Fellow  He is researching sensors for DNA sequences and structures.
